School Curriculum

Curriculum Overview

At present in the secondary school, the curriculum is organized in three stages: Year 8, the transition year, Years 9 and 10, and Years 11 and 12 the Senior Course.

At each stage there is a core course of compulsory subjects taken by all students, which includes Religious Education, English and Maths for all year levels. As the boys move through the stages of the secondary curriculum, they are given progressively more choices in their subjects.

All students from Years 5 to 12, are required to follow an academic program which provides them with a comprehensive and challenging education. Padua places a very strong emphasis on the value of a broad general education in all the major areas of learning. There are clear standards expected for class work, for assignments and presentations, for daily homework and for assessment tasks.

All boys are expected to participate in National English, Mathematics and Science Competitions at different Year levels during their Secondary years.
