Football (Soccer)

footballThe Football program at Padua is played across all year levels in the school. The Years 5-12 boys  play in the AIC competition.

AIC matches are played on Saturdays and are generally completed by 3pm. Home games are generally played at our playing fields at Banyo.

Coaches are drawn primarily from teaching staff and Old Boys with the necessary expertise, however in recent history the school has outsourced coaches with the necessary qualifications and expertise to be a part of the program.

In addition to these competitions, several year groups have the opportunity to play in a variety of statewide tournaments. The under 14A team plays in the Independent Schools Soccer Association (ISSA) Cup, the under 15A team plays in the Bill Turner Cup and the Open First X1 plays in the Uhlsport Cup.

Boys playing football for Padua College have the opportunity to represent their school, district and state, through the Queensland School Sport Association, the Metropolitan North Association and District Associations. Teams are selected at the under 12, 15 and 19 levels.

The football season commences in Term 2, with training generally starting towards the end of Term 1. Boys in A or B sides can expect to attend two sessions a week, whilst all other teams generally only have one session a week, however some coaches may opt to train twice a week.

During the season, further information including training times, team lists, coaching staff, schedules and results are available via the tabs above and via SharePoint.

Padua College is affiliated with the West Ham International Academy. This program offers the boys an opportunity to attend coaching clinics organised by the West Ham Academy, which generally take place during the Easter school holidays at our Banyo playing fields.

The Football playing uniform consists of a yellow jersey, white playing shorts and football socks, which can be purchased through the clothing store. The expectation is that the boys will also wear boots and shin guards, which are not available at the clotUniform Shop.

Football is supported by an active Football parent group who assist primarily with the canteen at home games and with tour organisation.

Since the inception of the AIC Competition in 1999, the school’s First X1 has won the premiership trophy on two occasions.
